Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers designed the building in the early '80s with its dramatic tubular spaceship design and finger-vents that spread a city block around the property. It wasn't until 2000 that the building arrived on the social and nightlife calendars of hipster Parisians with the arrival of Restaurant Georges by Gilbert and Jean-Louis Costes. Restaurant Georges is located on the sixth floor of the Centre Georges Pompidou with one of the most impressive views of the city. The interior architecture by Jacob and MacFarlane is a tubular landscape of deformed flooring and circular, almost asymmetrical walls coated in an aluminum skin. A kitchen, bar, bathroom and VIP room are tucked beneath this skin illuminated in bright yellow, red, green and orange rubber against floor-to-ceiling views of Paris. The main dining room and patio, raised slightly to create an ocean affect, are a continuum of steel framed tables with battery operated lights and chairs strewn with some of the most fashionable diners in all of Paris.

The Food

A very dapper staff in skinny suits and slicked-model hair divvies seating real estate with extreme precision. A lengthy cocktail menu of margaritas and caipirinhas takes a back seat to full bottles of Rose and Chenin Blanc during warmer summer months on the patio. Meals begin was a tasty selection of appetizers including smoked salmon, raviolis de crevettes with hoisin sauce and a creamy tuna tartare over a mayonnaise enhanced avocado puree. Far from light, the flavor is heavenly. Main courses include hefty portions of homemade foie gras served seared, roasted half-chicken and grilled fillet with rich port sauce. Endless side dishes include French fries, mashed potatoes and grilled vegetable big enough as a vegetarian meal. Dessert is a medley of apple tartin, gelato and molten chocolate cake.
